ERLANGER, KY – On Monday, March 27, at 3:30 PM, Perfetti Van Melle USA, local manufacturer and distributor of candies such as Airheads and Mentos, will donate 40 brand new boys’ and girls’ Huffy bicycles—with helmets—to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati.
Perfetti Van Melle employees will join CEO Mehmet Yuksek to deliver the bicycles to the Marge Schott-Unnewehr Club located at 30 West 26th Street, Covington, KY.
The bicycle donation is an outcome of Perfetti Van Melle’s recent all-company meeting. During the meeting, the company’s 200+ employees participated in teams and were required to solve a series of questions and tasks. With the completion of each task, teams were given bicycle pieces. As each team earned all of the necessary bicycle pieces, each team was then required to build a bike. The outcome was a set of beautiful new boys’ and girls’ bikes.
The bicycles will be presented to area Boys & Girls Clubs children, ages 5–9, as a reward for their commitment to and active participation in the Boys & Girls Clubs program at the Covington location. Students receiving the bicycles were selected for being on-task with regard to after-school focus on homework, physical activity, health and well-being, and giving back to their community.
